What students get.
In this course you will be introduced to permaculture design principles, ethics and methods, and their application to growing food and designing landscapes. You will also explore creative and local solutions for building regenerative communities by combining wholistic design and community development. Through lectures, discussion, hands-on activities, tours, and networking you will be introduced to new ideas and techniques for reconnecting people to the natural world, enhancing cultural and ecological diversity, and finding ways to meet needs in your community through local resources and collaboration. This course will inspire, stimulate and challenge you to engage in the world in a new way, and upon successful completion of the course you will earn a Permaculture Design Certificate.
Instructional Team
Ron Berezan, TheUrbanFarmer.ca An urban permaculture pioneer in Edmonton, Ron has extensive experience with urban permaculture in Canada and Cuba, in-depth training in bio-intensive organic gardening and three decades experience undertaking social justice and collaborative work to build whole, sustainable communities. Ron is a fountain of guidance about what to do and what not to do in building regenerative systems and communities, and a passionate and inspiring teacher whose fun and dynamic approach stimulates his students to become effective agents of change. Javan K. Bernakevitch, PermacultureBC.com An urban and broad-scale permaculture designer and teacher with experience in Canada, Kenya, Uganda, the United States and Cuba, Javan has a wealth of knowledge and experience in natural building systems, organic gardening, food forests, environmental education and facilitation. Drawing from this diverse experience, he shares with his students resources, techniques and innovative approaches to finding solutions to even the most complex problems. Javan is driven in his teaching to provide the right balance of theory, practical experience and integration of community to ensure students retain, use and leave his courses prepared and inspired to take positive action.
Guest speakers and teaching assistants from the local community also will join the group throughout the course to enhance student learning and facilitate community networking.

Refund Policy:
Regular Tuition and Early Bird Tuition can be refunded minus a 10% non-refundable processing fee up to 14 days before the course. If we receive communication less than 14 days before a course begins there is no refund provided however you can send someone in your place.
